WWU Rugby Reaches New Heights with Largest Recruiting Class Yet

George Pritchard and Lyndon Bailey have been invited to join the Bristol Bears Academy in England this August, while Liam Herring recently gained valuable experience playing with Cottesloe Rugby Club in Australia.

WWU Men’s Rugby proudly welcomes 23 new recruits to the program for the 2025–2026 season. Hailing from across the U.S. and internationally, these student-athletes bring a wide range of skills, leadership experience, and passion for the game.

Western Washington University Men’s Rugby has appointed three new members to its Alumni Board of Directors for the 2025–2026 season: John Tennant, Vincent Petisme, and Max Stone.

Western Washington’s Lyndon Bailey has been named to the USA Men’s U19 team for the RAN 15s Tournament in Mexico, July 9–12, 2025. A standout Lock for WWU Rugby, Bailey will compete against top teams from North America and the Caribbean.

WWU Rugby welcomed its largest alumni turnout in years for the annual Alumni Game at the deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields. In classic Bellingham rain, former players showed they still had it, outscoring the current squad 70–35 in a high-paced match featuring 12 tries. Highlights included strong performances from Max Stone, Kyle Peter, and MLR player Aiden Kerr. Big thanks to the WRA for sponsoring and Chuckanut Bay RFC for hosting!

This past weekend, our program proudly represented at the National Men’s Collegiate 7s Championship at the Westwick Rugby Grounds, hosted by Kansas University. Entering the tournament, we knew we had a young, fast, and highly skilled side. While our talent was undeniable, our lack of competitive 7s play leading into the tournament presented a challenge as we transitioned from the XVs format. Still, our squad embraced the opportunity to compete on the national stage—and they delivered a performance full of pride, resilience, and promise.

The WWU Men's 7s rugby team has arrived in Kansas, ready to face the immense challenge of defending their national championship. The squad has prepared thoroughly and enters the tournament with high expectations.

It was a beautiful setting at Harrington Field for a championship day of rugby. The sun was shining, the cherry blossoms in full bloom and the stands were full.
