Western Washington Rugby ran out for its annual Blue and White Game on Saturday, October 3, the team's first hit-out as a D1A program. The intrasquad scrimmage gave players, alumni, and supporters an early look at this year's group before the competitive schedule begins.
The Viking Fog rolled through Bellingham a few times during the day and made for an atmospheric setting, and the rugby on show matched it. Coming off the best season in program history, a CRAA D1AA 15s national title, a number-one national ranking, and promotion to D1A, the Vikings used the day to build toward the season ahead.
"I've honestly never seen a Blue and White played with that much shape, skill, pace, and intent. It was seriously fun to watch," said head coach Adam Roberts. "It was a huge day for our preparation as we continue to grow, challenge each other, and build together. Lots of positives and plenty to keep working on."
Western opens D1A play on the road at the University of Victoria on Saturday, October 10.
