The WWU Men's 7s rugby team has arrived in Kansas, ready to face the immense challenge of defending their national championship. The squad has prepared thoroughly and enters the tournament with high expectations.
"The team is looking sharp, and I feel incredibly confident in our ability to perform at the highest level," said Coach Adam Roberts. "We've got a great mix of talent this year, with six freshmen joining the squad who've been putting in the work and already showing real potential."
Coach Roberts highlighted several standout players: "Sho Sekiya from Osaka, Japan, has been nothing short of impressive—one of the quickest players I've ever seen in a 5m box, and his speed will be crucial. Out wide, we've got Eli Ashmann and Charlie Funk, who will bring speed and power, while George Pritchard and Harry Moore provide the muscle and experience."
Despite facing teams that have benefited from lead-up tournaments, Roberts remains optimistic: "All in all, I really believe this team can go all the way. Even though most other teams have had the advantage of additional competition, which puts us at a slight disadvantage, I truly trust our crew to step up and shine."
