Rule #76: No excuses—play like a champion!
It was an incredible weekend for WWU Men’s Rugby as the Vikings delivered two commanding shutout victories over the University of Oregon, with the 1XV winning 36–0 and the 2XV securing a 33–0 triumph.
Despite the classic Pacific Northwest weather—wind, rain, and even a bit of hail—WWU stayed composed and stuck to their game plan. The Rugby Gods offered a brief break in the storm for the opening minutes, but once the weather turned, the team simply dug in and got to work.
The defensive effort was outstanding, the set piece dominant, and the backline electric throughout the day. Holding a team scoreless in one match is an achievement, but doing it twice in a row is something special.
Adding to the success, an impressive 47 players took the field across both matches, showing the program’s growing depth and unity.
The Vikings also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the parents, alumni, and supporters who braved the elements to line the touchline—it made a huge difference and fueled the team’s performance.
WWU Rugby continues to build momentum with each match, proving that commitment, preparation, and pride in the jersey make all the difference.
