Western Washington University Rugby is proud to celebrate a major milestone for one of its standout student-athletes. Lyndon Bailey, a key contributor to the WWU Vikings Rugby program, has officially been named to the traveling roster for the USA Men’s Under 19s national team. Bailey will compete with Team USA in the upcoming Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s U19 15s Tournament, set to take place in Querétaro, Mexico, from July 9–12, 2025.
This prestigious tournament, hosted by the Federación Méxicana de Rugby at FC TOTAL, brings together elite Under-19 players from across North America and the Caribbean. The USA will face off against top regional competition from Bermuda, Trinidad & Tobago, México, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. Teams will compete in a round-robin format on July 9 and 10, with final placement matches scheduled for Saturday, July 12.
Coming into the tournament as the top-seeded nation based on their commanding performance in 2024, the USA U19s are aiming to defend their position and showcase the depth of talent in the country’s development pipeline. Bailey’s inclusion on the squad is a direct reflection of the hard work and exceptional skill he has demonstrated throughout the 2024–25 collegiate season.
Originally from Los Gatos, CA, Bailey joined the WWU Rugby program and quickly made an impact with his athleticism, game sense, and leadership on and off the pitch. As a Lock, he plays a crucial role in the Vikings’ competitive 15s and 7s campaigns, helping guide the team to strong finishes and earning recognition from coaches, teammates, and national selectors alike.
The RAN Men’s U19 15s Tournament plays a critical role in the USA Rugby high-performance pathway, offering players international exposure and the opportunity to develop within the national team structure. For athletes like Bailey, it’s a chance to prove themselves on the global stage and take the next step toward future USA Eagles selections.
The official match schedule will be published by Rugby Americas North in the coming weeks. Fans are encouraged to follow USA Rugby’s social media channels and the Rugby Americas North website for updates, match coverage, and behind-the-scenes content from Querétaro.
Please join the entire WWU Rugby community in congratulating Lyndon Bailey on this incredible honor. We’ll be cheering loudly from Bellingham as he represents the red, white, and blue in Mexico this July!
