2nd Annual Alumni and Friends Golf Tourney
The Western Rugby Alumni are proud to host the 2nd Annual Rugby Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament at the North Bellingham Golf Course, Saturday, September 20, 2014 with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm.
North Bellingham is located at 205 West Smith Road in Bellingham and is, as the name would suggest, just north of Bellingham on the old Wilder Ranch Property. It is a great course, very scenic, and the rolling country side might be a bit more forgiving to the average golfer than the woods of Lake Padden. Here is a link to their scorecard: North Bellingham
As usual it will be a scramble event, with four golfer teams, with a ‘shotgun’ start. There will be prizes for the ‘Long Drive’ and “Closest to the Pin’ contests, and, judges will award a prize to the golfer who shows up and plays in the “Best Golfer Outfit”.
We can only have 144 golfers total so you’d better sign up early as these slots are sure to go quickly….and we’ll have “Oyster Shooters” available again.
For those of you who can’t or won’t golf please consider attending the lunch and social. No prizes here for costume… Lunch will be available beginning at 12:00 noon and continue on thru the social which will run from 2:00 pm until the end of the festivities.
We’re looking for sponsors…a title sponsor for the tournament, the front or back nine, an individual hole, “Closest to the Pin”, “Long Drive”, or “Best Golfer’s Costume”? If you’re interested in being a part of the tourney in that way shoot me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a call at 253-740-8873
You have no excuses for not making it to Bellingham that Saturday, September 20th, for this incredible event. Play in the tournament and if you’re a Husky fan would you really will have a more productive day going to a home game that day against Georgia State rather than supporting WWU Men’s Rugby? Seriously? And Western doesn’t have a team anymore so that game is not an option. Come on out and re-new old acquaintances, better yet, get a group of your old buddies together and make a day of it in Bellingham. You will meet some of the current players (their first training session of the new season is that morning at Western), and maybe get a look at the campus and how it has changed since you last saw it. And especially…get a look at the new rugby pitch (they are going to let soccer use it, too) that has been completed and is looking absolutely amazing.
