This weekend will be the first ever (drumroll please), in the history of WWU Men’s Rugby, Parent’s Weekend. Well, it’s actually a Parent’s Day unless you decide to spend the night and then take your rugger to breakfast Sunday morning.
Hosted by the WWU Men’s Rugby Club, the coaching staff, Director of Rugby and Head Coach Paul Horne and Head 7s Coach Adam Roberts, along with WWU Men’s Rugby Club President Kevin Kinloch and Vice President Sam Hobbs, have put together a program that looks like this:
1:00 pm – Blue/Grey game – Will be played on the turf field next to the Wade King Rec Center. The Viking ruggers will be split into two teams with everyone getting playing time. The 7’s team players will not be playing as we’re still awaiting word on our ‘at-large’ invitation to the National 7’s Tournament and we don’t want to risk injury to anyone on the 7’s team.
3:30 pm – Viking Commons – Reserved dining room to open for players and their families and friends.
4:00 pm – Catered Dinner hosted by the WWU Men’s Rugby Club
5:00 pm – Updates on the WWU Men’s Rugby program by Director of Rugby Paul Horne and Head 7s Coach Adam Roberts. The coaches will talk about the goals of the program, the progress of the program against those goals, recruiting, the new multi-purpose stadium that is set to begin construction in May. In addition, the coaches will answer any questions you may have with regard to the WWU Men’s Rugby program.
The evenings festivities should be wrapped up by about 7:00 pm.
We’d love to see every parent, so please make plans to attend if at all possible.
